Material Storage

Resin and Vat Storage

To maximize resin shelf life and avoid accidents, adhere to the following guidelines.

  • Wear gloves, even when just storing or grabbing a container of resin. Wash skin if it comes into contact with resin.

  • Do not store XiP resin cartridges inserted all the way into the printer when not in use, as this can empty the resin cartridge in the case of a leak in the vat membrane due to gravity-fed system
  • Filter the resin when loading back into the container
  • Store in a room with a temperature that falls no lower than 15°C (60°F) and no higher than 30°C (80°F)

  • Store in a dark storage space such as a cabinet to minimize potential exposure to UV lighting

  • Store away from heat, flames, sparks, and strong UV sources

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals

  • Keep resin away from food, drinks, and other consumable products

  • Keep container closed to prevent water absorption and/or other contaminates from becoming mixed with the product

  • Closed containers must have at least 10% air or oxygen to inhibit premature curing.
  • Use a First-In-First-Out system with resin to prevent expiration. Most resins are viable after expiration, but are not guaranteed to reach advertised material properties.
  • We recommend removing resin from the vat if storing for longer than 2 weeks.
  • Shake resin before dispensing and stir pigmented resins between uses,

Solvent Storage

  • maximize solvent shelf life and avoid accidents, adhere to the following guidelines.

  • Most cleaning solvents are flammable. Don’t use near open flame and ensure spill containment measures are in place.

  • Some cleaning solvents evaporate quickly. Ensure adequate ventilation and keep containers tightly closed.

  • Store solvents in a designated, labeled storage area or cabinet

  • Place labels denoting the hazards of the chemicals on the outside of the cabinet

  • Make sure secondary, smaller containers of solvent are clearly labelled with the solvent’s name

  • Store at room temperature in the original container

  • Ensure a functioning Class B fire extinguisher is nearby in the case of a fire and train on proper use

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals

  • Keep solvents away from food, drinks, and other consumable products

  • Wear eye protection around liquid materials that can splash
